King meets Arafat

LONDON (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah who arrived in London on Monday received Palestinian President Yasser Arafat for talks on the latest developments in the Mideast peace process.

King Abdullah briefed Arafat on the outcome of his talks with European leaders and stressed the need for immediate action directed towards the resumption of the peace process to arrive at a comprehensive and lasting peace on the basis of UN Security Council Resolutions 242 and 338 and the agreements concluded between the Palestinian and the Israeli sides.

King Abdullah was briefed by Arafat on the outcome of his talks earlier Monday with British Prime Minister Tony Blair.

At the meeting, attended by Director of the General Intelligence Department and the National Security Council Saad Kheir, Arafat thanked King Abdullah for his continuous efforts aimed at ending the suffering of the Palestinian people.
