Cultural capital project to be launched next year

The Ministry of Culture announced on Tuesday that the Jordanian cultural cities project would be launched by the beginning of next year, under which a city will be selected to be the country’s cultural capital for a year. The ministry will support the project with a budget of JD1 million to activate cultural activity in the selected city, Minister of Culture Adel Tweisi said. He added that the project would encourage expertise exchange between cultural figures in the capital and other Jordanian cities. Tweisi said a committee led by the ministry’s secretary general would select the cultural capital. The panel, which will include six experts in the field from inside and outside the ministry, will study proposals submitted by cities aspiring for the title.
