4th Jordan ICT Forum 2006 slated for December
AMMAN (JT) — The Information Technology
Association of Jordan (int@j) and the Ministry of Information and Communications
Technology will host a two-day conference at the Dead Sea on December 6-7 to
enhance telecommunication and technology services in Jordan and throughout the
region.
The Fourth Jordan ICT Forum 2006 will host business leaders from the
information, communication and technology (ICT) industry as well as government
officials from across the globe.
More than 1,000 regional and international ICT leaders and professionals will
compare progress made to date and share lessons learned at the forum, which acts
as a gateway for international, regional and local ICT leaders to network and
explore the myriad of opportunities available in Jordan and across the regional
ICT market, according to int@j.
Topics for discussion at the meeting also include regional telecommunication
issues, outsourcing trends and entrepreneurial innovation.
“We want to improve and promote the ICT sector in Jordan and the Middle East,”
said Alaa Qattan, an int@j representative.
“We want to bring people together to discuss and develop the industry, so that
customers will have more choices and lower prices,” Qattan told The Jordan
Times.
The conference, said Qattan, is part of a broader effort by His Majesty King
Abdullah to liberalise the country’s telecommunications industry, promote
foreign direct investment and transform the Kingdom into a technology hub.
