35.9% increase in
foreign trade in first eight months
AMMAN (Petra) — Jordan's overall foreign trade (imports and exports) in the
first eight months of 2004 has increased by 35.9 per cent over the same period
in 2003, according to a monthly statistical bulletin by the Ministry of Industry
and Trade.
Imports increased by 37.3 per cent and exports by 45.7 per cent, while reexported goods dropped by 6.5 per cent in comparison with last year's figures. Exports to the US topped the list, accounting for 29.7 per cent followed by Iraq at 16.8 per cent, India at 6.8 per cent, Saudi Arabia at 5.5 per cent and Syria at 4.6 per cent.
