By Ghaith Tarawneh

AMMAN — The head of the Institute of Public Administration Oklah Mubayedin said on Saturday that since 1969 the institute has trained 36,860 government employees in public administration fields.

Mubayedin said, in a statement to Al Ra'i daily, that the institute is increasing its training programmes not only for Jordanians but also for government employees from other countries. He said employees from the United Arab Emirates and the Palestinian National Authority have been among those who received training.

Mubayedin pointed out that the institute is organising special training programmes for senior government officials from Jordan and other countries.

The IPA, an independent institution established in 1968, aims to develop the public administration system through training courses for government employees.

Mubayedin received on Saturday Fawaz Yassin, head of the National Labour Institute in the Palestinian territories and reviewed training programmes, conducting studies and research programmes and studying prospects for cooperation in public administration fields.

Yassin, on a week-long visit to Jordan will examine the prospect of benefiting from Jordanian public administration system and will hold talks with officials from the Labour Ministry.

The talks will cover also the International Labour Organisation's current training programme for the Palestinian National Authority's employees.
