Germany, Jordan sign three memoranda on development projects
AMMAN (Petra) Germany will grant Jordan DM6.5 million in technical aid to help it carry out development projects, according to three memoranda signed at the Ministry of Planning on Saturday.
Under the first memorandum, Germany will offer Jordan DM3.5 million in technical aid to be used by the Water Authority of Jordan to improve the management and quality of potable water to the residents of Amman, Aqaba and Irbid.
The grant will also help provide a more efficient sanitation system to help safeguard public health.
Germany will send experts to help organise and regulate private and public sector partnership in the water-related projects and provide computers and other equipment besides training Jordanian personnel in their use.
Under the second memorandum, the German government will offer Jordan DM2 million to help finalise a new standards and metrology system to contribute to the improvement of the quality of Jordanian products. Germany will provide equipment and will train Jordanian cadres in their use.
Under the third memorandum, Germany will offer the Kingdom DM1 million in technical aid in the form of German experts and equipment to help the country develop its energy resources.
The memoranda were signed by Minister of Planning Rima Khalaf and German Ambassador to Jordan Peter Mende.
