By Mahmoud Masharqa
AMMAN Minister of Trade and Industry Mohammad Asfour announced on Sunday that the ministry is drafting a new law on auditing.
Speaking after a meeting on Sunday with Mohammad Bashir, the president of the Jordanian Auditors Association, Asfour said a special committee is working on finalising the bill. But he added that other parts of society will also be involved in drafting the law.
Asfour and Bashir discussed ways to overhaul local auditing regulations to cope with recent changes in the world.
The minister called for efforts to enhance the role of society in auditing, as well as to raise awareness among businesspeople of the importance of utilising the skills of auditors.
The minister also called for holding several seminars on auditing, adding that the profession has made great progress in the Kingdom.
In the meantime, Bashir stressed the need to establish a special association for auditors.
