Jordan ranks second among Arab countries in achieving education goals for
all, according to the UNESCO’s 2007 Education for All Global Monitoring Report,
which observes countries’ progress in reaching these goals. Education Ministry
Secretary General for Educational and Technical Affairs Tayseer Nueimi, who is
also national coordinator of education for all, said Jordan ranks 49th among 125
countries in achieving the goals. The report is launched annually to encourage
countries to implement programmes directed towards achieving education for all
goals, which include expanding pre-school educational programmes, spreading
elementary education, reducing the gender gap, cutting the illiteracy rate by
half, improving the quality of education and providing continuous learning
programmes.
