Public administration reform
plan to begin soon
AMMAN (Petra) — A government-sponsored plan to reform the country's public
administration for the 2004-2009 period is due to start shortly, according to
Khalaf Hadid, a consultant for the Ministry of Planning. He said the plan is
based on four main principles: Objectives and results, accountability for
institutions as well as individuals, decentralisation and the ideal exploitation
of available resources. Hadid said the plan seeks to create a modern public
service system that can cater to the requirements of new developments and
change, create a favourable climate for investment, act in complete transparency
and draw up the country's general policies, safeguard security and ensure public
freedoms.
