Circular issued on
correct usage of Arabic
Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Wednesday issued a circular to several
ministries and government departments, directing them to pay attention to
classical Arabic, noting that it is part of the nations cultural identity. The
directives are in line with the governments concern about wrong usage of the
Arabic language in public life. The corrective measures include Arabising the
names of licensed commercial stores. The circular also stressed that
advertisements published in English newspapers should be in both Arabic and
English.
