Heads of news agencies
to convene in Kingdom next week
The heads of 35 news agencies from around the world will convene in Amman next
Saturday and Sunday to discuss the establishment of a global council to protect
the interests of the agencies. Among those participating are Japan's news agency
Kyodo, China's Xinhua, Reuters, Agence France-Presse and the Associated Press.
Director General of the Jordan News Agency, Petra, Feisal Shboul said the
council will be an international nongovernmental commission that seeks to
coordinate efforts and enable the agencies to benefit from each others'
experience.
