King: Jordanians' Cohesion and United Stance against Terrorism Make us Proud of Our People
Amman, Nov. 9 (Petra)—His Majesty King Abdullah II affirmed that the cohesion of Jordanians and their united stance against terrorism, which hit Amman at this time last year, prompt us to take pride in our great Jordanian people, which showed courage, cohesion and keenness in preserving security and stability in the homeland.
In a statement to Jordan News Agency, Petra on the occasion of the first anniversary of the terrorist attacks that targeted three hotels in Amman on November 9, and claimed the lives of dozens of innocent Jordanians and Jordan's guests, His Majesty said this criminal act enhanced our people's steadfastness and its keenness to confront all forms of terrorism.
"We, while we remember our martyrs, affirm the solidarity and support of our one Jordanian family to families of the innocent victims, the King added.
His Majesty said "We understand the extent of pain and suffering of each Jordanian family and each family in Arab and friendly countries, who lost a dear person in this tragic incident".
The King stressed that the challenges we face, will not deviate us from out approach to achieve the aspired for progress and defend principles of Islam that advocate the values of moderation, tolerance and peace.
He said this occasion necessitate us all to clarify the true principles of Islam, that terrorists try to distort through using it as a pretext to commit their crime and spread destruction in all parts of the world.
"This sinister crime shows that fighting terrorism and terrorists is the responsibility of all, for terrorism is blind and does not distinguish between one person and another irrespective of his, nationality, race or religion," the King said.
His Majesty said that terrorist acts that had occurred in our beloved capital Amman and the capitals of Arab and Islamic and friendly states such as Riyadh, London and Madrid, is not in any way related to Islam, and distorts the image of our tolerant religion.
The King affirmed the role of Islamic scholars in confronting the takfiri ideology of the extremist groups.
He said Jordan was moving in the right path and its citizens will go ahead with God's help to build the modern country where the values of freedom, justice and equality prevail.
On this day last year, terrorists targeted the Hyatt Amman, Radisson Sass and Daze Inn hotels in Amman.
Seventy Jordanians citizens and 17 persons of Jordan's gusts were killed in these terrorist acts. Eighty five Jordanians and 28 nationals of Arab, Islamic and friendly countries were also injured in these attacks.
