Cabinet statement on the terrorist attacks

Amman/ Nov.10/ (Petra)-- The Council of Minister has expressed feeling of bitterness and denunciation over the suicide bombings at three hotels in Amman on Wednesday. The cowardly terrorist acts targeted innocent people and claimed lives of dozens of civilians and over one hundred were injured in the terrorist explosions, said a cabinet statement issued following an emergency meeting chaired by Prime Minister Adnan Badran immediately after hearing the news about the blasts.

 "These cowardly acts, which contravenes with our Islamic religion and our genuine Arab values, will not sway Jordan from pursuing its efforts for combating all forms and types of terror regardless of its motives and causes," said the statement. The cabinet, which affirmed its confidence in the security departments competence and efficiency to find out the criminals, listened to an account by Interior Minister Awni Yarfas on the three successive blasts carried out in three hotels by treacherous and cowardly hands. Security officials rushed to the blast sites immediately and cordoned the areas surrounding the hotels, evacuated the injured and residents at the three hotels, Yarfas said.

 The ongoing investigations showed that the blasts have been carried out by explosive devices and belts that have killed 57 people and 115 have been injured, he told his colleagues. The cabinet statement affirmed that this terrorist act will never shaken the country's security and stability and will never affect Jordan's staunch position in face of terror and terrorist.
