Costa Rican artist exhibits
her impressions of Petra city
Washington, Nov. 14 (Petra)—Jordanian embassy in Washington, in cooperation with
the Costa Rican embassy, hosted and art exhibition featuring works by Costa
Rican artist Marita Vidales, entitled Petra city: Colours of Time. Vidales‘s art
illustrates her impressions of Petra city and the impact it had on her work.
'My trip to Petra city inspired me and enriched me as an artists, Vidales said.
'It is difficult to express in words what I experienced for the first time in
Petra city. I was so visually impacted by its immense stone carvings and taken
by the mysterious antiquity and historic significance,' she added.
Vidales was born in san Jose, Costa Rica. She graduated from the school of fine
arts of the university of Costa Rica. For over 20 years , Marita has exhibited
her works through out America, Costa Rica and Germany. Her work reflects a
passion for symbols and colours.
Hosting this event coincides with nomination of Petra city in a global voting
competition, as one of the new Seven Wonders of the World.
This event was part of the Embassy’s cultural series, organized by Jordan
Information Bureau . The aim is to introduce the Washington DC audience to the
various aspects of the socie-political and cultural heritage of Jordan and the
Arab Muslim world at large. Vidales’s paintings will continue to exhibited at
the embassy of Jordan until the end of the month.
