AMMAN, November 17 (Petra) - The Ministry of Information and Communications Technology (MoICT) has started connecting 12 government departments together, as part of the second phase of the Secure Government Network Program, in addition to the six ministries already connected during the project's first phase.

The government departments include the General Intelligence, the Passports and Civil Status, the Income Tax and the Land and Survey Department in addition to the Telecommunications Regulatory Commission. The project's first phase was launched in March 2003 to serve the Prime Ministry, the ministries of planning, finance, industry and trade and the MoICT, in addition to Greater Amman Municipality. The initiative is meant to enhance the efficiency of the country's human resources and upgrade government services.
