SABEQ expected to
help create jobs, enhance competitiveness of local businesses
Renewing US support for Jordan, American Ambassador David Hale launched on
Sunday a new economic development project — the Sustainable Achievement of
Business Expansion and Quality, or SABEQ, which will be funded through the US
Agency for International Development (USAID). Hale said that in addition to
enhancing the competitive advantage of local businesses, “this project will also
support poverty alleviation by increasing women’s participation in economic
activities. It will target small and medium enterprises. And it will focus on
decentralising activity beyond the Greater Amman area.”
