Jordan elected as member
of UN’s International Law Committee
Jordan has been elected as a member of the United Nations International Law
Committee, according to a source in the Foreign Ministry. Mahmoud Hamoud, the
acting director of the Foreign Ministry’s legal department, will represent
Jordan on the committee after obtaining 122 votes out of 187 during the UN
General Assembly’s 54th meeting. During the same meeting, the UN General
Assembly endorsed Mohammad Tal, a member of Jordan’s permanent delegation to the
UN, as a member in the Consultative Committee for Administrative and Budgetary
Affairs for 2007-2009.
