IT strategy to increase
investments to $1.5 billion in five years
The country’s IT strategy aims to increase investments in this sector to $1.5
billion in five years, Information Technology Association-Jordan (int@j) CEO
Sabri Tabbaa said in an interview. Tabbaa was commenting on the fourth IT forum
to be launched at the Dead Sea on December 6. According to Tabbaa, the forum is
a platform to present the latest IT technologies in the world. Besides marketing
the country’s IT products and services, the forum is intended to highlight the
country’s development, he said. The IT strategy also seeks to expand the use of
the Internet to reach 50 per cent from seven per cent, at present, in addition
to creating another 35,000 direct jobs in the IT sector, the int@j CEO
indicated. At present, this sector provides 16,000 direct jobs.
