Khatib reasserts
Jordan’s stand on regional issues
Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Khatib on Tuesday reasserted Jordan’s stand on
regional issues, calling for a just peace in the Middle East and an end to
internal fighting in Iraq. He was speaking at a working dinner banquet the
Finnish presidency held for foreign ministers attending the EU-Mediterranean
partnership meeting. Khatib condemned the assassinations witnessed in Lebanon
recently and called for diplomacy and dialogue in solving conflicts. He also
stressed Jordan’s desire for the Middle East to be a region free of weapons of
mass destruction.
