Prince replies to King's letter
AMMAN (JT) — HRH Prince Hamzah on Monday sent a reply to His Majesty King Abdullah's letter on Sunday, saying he honoured the Monarch's command.
Following is the official translation of the
reply letter:
“In the name of Allah, the Merciful, the Compassionate
The Almighty Allah says: "Ye who believe! Obey Allah, and obey the Messenger,
and those charged with authority among you." An-Nisa (The Women)
Your Majesty, Dear Brother King Abdullah II Ben Al Hussein, May God keep you.
Having dedicated myself, as our great late father taught us, to standing by you
as a faithful soldier and a devoted supporter, I obey the command of my elder
brother out of my loyalty, love, and obedience.
I promise you that I shall always live up to your expectations and confidence in
me as a Hashemite Muslim. I shall, God willing, remain faithful to the message
of our fathers and grandfathers from Al al Bayt and to our precious Jordan and
its dear people.
The Almighty Allah says: "The (material) things which ye are given are but the
conveniences of this life and the glitter thereof; but that which is with Allah
is better and more enduring." Al Qasas (The Narration)
I ask God to endow you with good health and guide you as the leader of the
nation.

King Abdullah on Sunday sent a letter to the Prince, freeing him from the
constraints of the honorary position of Crown Prince.
The King said: "I have been eager since I came to the Throne of our beloved
Jordan to reflect the true meaning of the position of Crown Prince as it is
stated in the Constitution. This position is an honorary one that does not
entail any authority or any responsibility."
"I have decided to free you from the constraints of the position of Crown Prince
in order to give you the freedom to work and undertake any mission or
responsibility I entrust you with, alongside with all our brothers, the sons of
Al Hussein, and other members of the Hashemite family," King Abdullah told the
Prince in the letter.
