HMC presents
draft law to Cabinet
AMMAN (Petra) — The Higher Media Council (HMC), which is entrusted with the
development of the media environment in Jordan, has referred a draft law to the
Council of Ministers which would guarantee the public's right of access to
information. The law, which should be endorsed by the Cabinet before it goes to
Parliament, allows citizens to obtain any piece of information from government
departments under certain conditions within a period of 30 days and entitles
citizens to take up their cases with the Higher Court of Justice.
