Foreign Minister Khatib reiterates Jordan’s stand on Iraq
CAIRO (Petra) — Foreign Minister Abdul Ilah Khatib on Tuesday reiterated that Jordan backs all efforts in support of Iraq and the interest of its people. In remarks after taking part in a ministerial meeting on Iraq, Khatib said it is in the interest of the entire Arab nation to have a stable, unified and secure Iraq, therefore it is essential to back the ongoing political process in this war-torn country. Condemning all forms of violence and terrorism witnessed in Iraq, the minister renewed a call on the international community to extend a helping hand to Iraq. He noted that the meeting agreed to a request by Iraq to hold a regional conference in Baghdad early next year where neighbouring countries, in addition to Bahrain, Egypt, the Arab League, the Organisation of the Islamic Conference and the UN will take part.
