Monarch visits PSD, CDD

AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday urged senior police officers to enhance a “relationship of mutual respect between ordinary citizens and policemen within the context of the rule of law.”

The King's remarks were made during a visit to the Public Security Department (PSD) yesterday, during which he was acquainted with progress in the Command and Control Centre under implementation by the PSD.

The Monarch issued directives to accelerate work on the new system, which would serve as a communications link between the headquarters in police departments and police patrols and other units in the field.

King Abdullah described the project as “vital,” because it would enable the police departments to deal more professionally with incidents that occur and take on-the-spot decisions in security situations.

The system would also enable police to respond more swiftly to emergency calls.

Also yesterday, the King called on the Civil Defence Department (CDD), where he extended thanks to the teams for their remarkable record in saving lives.
