World Family Summit issues recommendations
Recommendations of the World Family Summit +2, which concluded at the Dead Sea on Thursday, focused on placing the family as the core at government strategies, and creating decent work opportunities for all. Participants stressed the need to improve the situation of the family, considering its key role in preserving social stability. They also highlighted the importance of several issues such the need to improve policies to eradicate poverty and unemployment and reinforce education plans that tackle school dropouts. The summit, entitled “Investing in Development and Mobilizing for Action: Implementing the MDGs at the Local Level and in the Family,” discussed women's empowerment and ways to create an environment that provides equality on the basis of gender, in addition to primary healthcare issues and ways to develop local health systems.
