Bakhit voices
support for Palestinian state
AMMAN (Petra) — Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Saturday said the creation of an
independent Palestinian state serves the national interests of Palestinians and
Jordanians. Addressing a group of Arab Israelis representing the Arab Democratic
Party led by Abdul Wahab Darawsheh, the prime minister reaffirmed that Jordan
would provide all possible assistance to support aspirations for a Palestinian
state. Darawsheh expressed the Arab Israelis' appreciation of the Kingdom's
assistance to Palestinians performing pilgrimage to Mecca and for accepting
Palestinian students in the Kingdom's universities. Nearly 3,000 Arab Israeli
students are now enrolled in Jordanian institutes of higher education.
