King to meet with Hu today

BEIJING (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah is expected to meet today with Chinese President Hu Jintao for talks on means to enhance bilateral relations, particularly economic and political cooperation.

King Abdullah arrived here Saturday from Japan on the second leg of his Asian tour, which is to take him to Thailand.

The King yesterday visited the Chinese National Defence University, which has close ties with the Jordan Armed Forces.

The Monarch toured the university and was briefed by President Lieutenant General Pei Huailiang on its facilities, activities and services.

Pei praised the distinguished military ties between Jordan and China, noting that there are nine Jordanian officers currently studying at the university.

King Abdullah, meanwhile, visited widows of the three Chinese who were killed in the November 9 terrorist attacks at three Amman hotels and offered his condolences.

The women expressed their deep appreciation for the King's gesture.

Their Royal Highnesses Prince Feisal and Princess Raya as well as Chairman of the Joint Chiefs-of-Staff General Khaled Sarayreh accompanied the King.
