Minister of Tourism and
Antiquities, US ambassador discuss tourism cooperation
AMMAN (JT) — Minister of Tourism and Antiquities Osama Dabbas met with American
Ambassador to Jordan David Hale yesterday to discuss cooperation in the field of
tourism. Dabbas said he valued America’s support of tourism-development projects
in the Kingdom. The USAID currently finances the 2005-2008 Jordan Tourism
Development Project (Siyaha). The $17 million project aims to promote Jordan
internationally and complements the national tourism strategy. Siyaha focuses on
institutional and sector reform, developing Jordan’s tourism products, improving
tourist sites and supplying the sector with qualified workers. Over the last 10
months 136,000 American tourists visited Jordan.
