Jordan supports Arab
League efforts to defuse Lebanon crisis
AMMAN (Petra) — Jordan supports the Arab League in its efforts to end the crisis
in Lebanon, Minister of Foreign Affairs Abdul Ilah Khatib told the Jordan News
Agency, Petra, on Thursday. Arab foreign ministers last week discussed the
league’s role in aiding Lebanon during a consultation session prior to an
official meeting on developments in Iraq. The minister noted the urgency in
reducing tension in Lebanon and bringing about a resumption of negotiations
between all parties. Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa said yesterday he
had made progress towards a deal to resolve the political impasse, but that
there was no agreement.
