Monarch reviews Kingdom's efforts to clarify true image of Islam
AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on
Sunday affirmed the importance of spreading the values of coexistence, tolerance
and understanding between nations in order to foil terrorists' attempts to plant
divisions in Muslim communities and with followers of other religions.
During a meeting with a delegation from the European Jewish Congress (EJC),
which is currently on a visit to the Kingdom, King Abdullah reviewed the
Kingdom's efforts to clarify the true image of Islam that extremists keep trying
to distort.
The Monarch referred to the Amman Message and the recommendations made by the
International Islamic Conference in Amman, which were also adopted by
extraordinary meeting of the Organisation of Islamic Conference held in Mecca
recently.
The Monarch noted that the majority of Muslims condemn terrorism, which has
claimed the lives of thousands of innocents, noting that most of its victims
were Muslims.
The King emphasised that stability and security in the region would never be
realised unless a just peace that guarantees the rights of all prevails in the
Middle East.
EJC President Pierre Besnainou commended the King's efforts to achieve peace and
stability in the region and enhance the values of understanding and cooperation
between nations.
The King's Special Adviser HRH Prince Ghazi also attended the meeting.
