JRF three-year strategic plan
presented to Queen Rania
AMMAN (JT) — The Jordan River Foundation (JRF) on Sunday presented its
three-year strategic plan to Her Majesty Queen Rania.
The plan focuses on building upon JRF's experience to further develop its two
major programmes: The Community Empowerment Programme and the Jordan River
Children's Programme.
Chairing the board of trustees' meeting at JRF headquarters, Queen Rania was
briefed by JRF Director General Maha Khatib on the foundation's plans to boost
youth participation in its developmental plans, build partnerships with
municipalities, promote organic farming practices in the governorates and
advance the foundation's programmes throughout the Kingdom.
As a leading organisation implementing new approaches and methodologies in
community economic development, JRF's three-year strategic plan envisages the
adoption of various missions. These include implementing and recommending
additional full-fledged plans for the benefit of local communities based on the
successful model of JRF's Rural Community Cluster Development Programme;
cementing the pioneering Child Safety Programme for potential emulation on local
and regional levels; cultivating JRF's presence abroad; capitalising on the
existing private sector partnerships to generate a culture of corporate social
responsibility; and expanding and nurturing partnerships with national
institutions.
Queen Rania has spearheaded efforts to raise awareness on the issue of child
welfare and bring it to the forefront of topics of the national agenda. In the
past few years, JRF has established itself as a pioneer in building a child
safety model, as a hub for knowledge and information on developmental approaches
locally, regionally and internationally, and as an organisation that enhanced
its capacity to acquire funding from donor communities.
The board meeting also briefed members on how JRF's upcoming plans will also
include working with universities to embrace a curriculum that would qualify
graduates to have the necessary skills and knowledge to sustain and further
child safety programmes.
Setting a model for the region in child safety and early childhood development
issues, JRF established the Kingdom's and the Arab world's first centre to
tackle the issue of child abuse and will soon open a second one focusing on
prevention, awareness and training activities.
