Jordan accredited centre for counting Iraqi votes — Mulki
AMMAN (Petra) — His Majesty King Abdullah on Tuesday stressed that the coming year will be full of positive opportunities which should be seized to solve conflicts in the Middle East, enhance democracy and establish just and permanent peace in the region.
During a meeting with US congressmen from the Democratic Party, Senator Joseph Lieberman (D-Connecticut) and Senator Mark Dayton (D-Minnesota), the King underlined the need to support all efforts seeking to push forward the peace process, help Palestinians establish their independent and viable state, and empower Iraqis to achieve a secure and bright future.
Referring to Jordanian-US relations, the King voiced his appreciation of US assistance to the Kingdom, which enables it to implement development programmes and achieve progress in the socio-economic fields.
The congressmen said they highly valued the intensive efforts exerted by His Majesty to achieve peace in the region. They also commended the ambitious development and reform programmes the Kingdom is implementing in various fields.
Royal Court Minister Samir Rifai, Foreign Minister Hani Mulki and US Charge d'Affaires in Amman David Hale also attended the meeting.
