Parliamentary committee
appeals for the release of Jordanian national
AMMAN (Petra) — The Lower House of Parliament's Public Freedoms and Citizens
Rights Committee on Thursday appealed to the abductors of a Jordanian national
in Iraq to release him unharmed. Mahmoud Saidat, a driver for the Jordanian
embassy in Baghdad, was kidnapped by an armed group who threatened to kill him
unless Jordanian authorities release a terrorist suspect arrested in the Kingdom
following the bomb blasts at three Amman hotels in November. In its appeal, the
committee said the kidnapped man supports a large family and has not committed
any offence in Iraq, noting that the Jordanian people have always sided with
Iraq and provided aid to its people.
