Embassy of Jordan hosts
Jordanian
Fulbright School Administrators
September 15th 2004 - Washington, DC- The Embassy of Jordan in
Washington hosted a group of Jordanian school administrators participating in
the Fulbright Teacher and Administrator Exchange Program. The group includes
nine school administrators and teachers from all across the Kingdom.
The Jordanian principals will spend twelve days in Washington, DC visiting
different types of schools and educational organizations. Each of the Jordanian
participants will then spend a week in another part of the United States. The
program aims to introduce the Jordanian participants to the educational
administration in the US at various school levels through the process of
observation and work-shadowing of American school administrators.
The group of school administrators and teachers visited the embassy and met with
Ambassador Karim Kawar this week. Each administrator shared his/her impressions
and experiences with the Ambassador and emphasized the importance of such
educational and cultural programs between Jordan and the United States. They
also discussed the importance of introducing technology in the educational
system and improving the teaching methodology accordingly.
Ambassador Kawar commended the work of the administrators adding that such
exchange programs are testimony to the strong cooperation between Jordan and the
United States on the cultural and educational level. “This visit provides a
golden opportunity for our school administrators to not only take the best of
what the US educational system has to offer, but also to introduce American
administrators and teachers to Jordan and its education initiative. In recent
years, the Jordanian government, has embarked on a proactive and far-reaching
plan to reform and improve the Jordanian educational system. Educating our youth
and preparing them for the future is a guaranteed investment for the future of
Jordan.”
