A Taste of Jordan

“A Taste of Jordan" an initiative by Alsharifeh Noor Bint Ali was hosted at the Embassy of Jordan on October 4, 2006. The initiative developed when Alsharifeh Noor arrived to the United States to complete her second degree in “Policy Management” in 2005. The presentation which consists of a slide show of pictures, and Jordanian appetizers has taken place in colleges and schools in Pennsylvania, Massachusetts and now in the Washington, DC metropolitan area. With the pictures in the background Alsharifeh Noor explains the significance of the pictures by either explaining the history, showing the beauty of the Kingdom, or talking about current and future Jordanian initiatives. She aims to clear misconceptions about the Middle East and Islam by sharing a piece of Jordan from her perspective.

The event included 50 students from Coeus International School, The Madeira School, and School Without Walls Senior High School. Alsharifeh Noor talked about Jordan through her eyes, over a slide show of pictures that covered social, political, and economic aspects of the Kingdom. The event was concluded by a Question and Answer session where the audience asked her a variety of questions that ranged from her views on critical issues as the conflicts in the area, Jordanian Peace initiatives, and then less serious ones as the weather in Jordan or her favorite gateway in the Kingdom.

Other than the students the following were at the event:
