POLL: Change in Palestinian Opinion

A late November opinion poll conducted by the Palestinian Center for Policy and Survey Research, the most reliable monitor of Palestinian opinion, delivered some eye-opening results:

Seventy-six percent of the Palestinian population supports a mutual cessation of violence, up from 48% last August.   Fifty-four percent support the Quartet-sponsored roadmap.

Fifty-six percent support the Palestinian Authority taking measures to prevent terror attacks.   This number, the survey notes, is equal to the findings of March 1996 poll in which 59% supported a PA clampdown on Palestinian terror

Seventy-three percent believe that the PAs failure to take security measures against Palestinian terror attacks would impede a return to the peace process.
