POLL: Suicide Bombings and Palestinian-Israeli Peace

According to a new poll from the Palestinian Center for Public Opinion, suicide bombings and the Intifada are losing popularity among Palestinians in the West Bank.  The survey found that when asked whether they support suicide attacks in Israel or halting such attacks right now, 43% said such attacks must stop, while 38% said they must continue.  When asked the same question in January 2003, just 26% said suicide attacks should stop and 56% said they should continue.  In response to being asked if they support continuing the Intifada or halting it, 34% backed continuing the Intifada, while 52% preferred to stop it.  Just two months ago, 47% called for continuing the Intifada and 41% supported halting it.  In addition, 51% said that it is either greatly possible or possible to attain peace with Israelis in the near future, while 36% said it was somewhat impossible or totally impossible
