Peace Polls

According to Friday’s poll in Yedioth Ahronoth, 49% of registered Likud Party members support or tend to support the establishment of a Palestinian state in the territory evacuated by Israel, in return for peace negotiations held with a new Palestinian leadership which will fight terror. 46% oppose or tend to oppose this. In the general public, 60% support or tend to support the establishment of a Palestinian state under the described conditions, while 37% oppose it. There is also a large majority of Likudniks who favor evacuating settlements. 65% believe that Israel should agree to evacuate settlements according to the following breakdown: 11% think Israel should agree to evacuate all settlements and 54% are willing to evacuate settlements in populous Arab areas, while only 33% oppose the evacuation of settlements. The survey was conducted among 548 Likud members, and had a margin of error of 4.5%. A Dialog/Ha’aretz poll released on Thursday found that 45% of Likud members are willing to accept a Palestinian State and make “painful concessions” for peace, while 43% are not.
