Joint Desire for Peace
June 2003

A specially commissioned Gallup poll, released to coincide with the World Economic Forum’s Global Summit of Peace and Reconciliation in Jordan, found huge agreement between majorities of Israelis and Palestinians concerning the peace process. The survey found 66% of Israelis and 56% of Palestinians questioned favor the current renewal of negotiations between their communities on the basis of the Road Map. It also found 75% of Israelis and Palestinians surveyed believe that both had the right to live in peace and security. Further, 76% of Israelis and 69% of Palestinians polled agreed with the statement that there can be “no real economic growth and prosperity without a peace settlement.”
