Jordan Takes part in
conference to address situation in Darfur
Khartoum, Oct. 31 (Petra)—Jordan took part in the Arab conference that was held
in Sudanese capital Khartoum to help Sudan address the humanitarian crisis in
Darfur.
President of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) Abdul Salam
Abbadi, who headed the Jordanian delegation to the meeting, made remarks in
which he conveyed greetings of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah to the
participants.
Queen, Rania, he said will continue her efforts in cooperation with the United
Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to provide care to children in Darfur, Iraq and
Palestine.
Highlighting Jordan’s support to Sudan, he said the JHCO started its activities
in Darfur since 1985, pointing to the medical aid provided by Jordan to citizens
of the region.
The JHCO, Abbadi added, implemented electricity and water projects through an
initiative by the Islamic Development Bank, adding the cost of the
organization’s projects totaled $8 million.
