Jordan Takes part in conference to address situation in Darfur

Khartoum, Oct. 31 (Petra)—Jordan took part in the Arab conference that was held in Sudanese capital Khartoum to help Sudan address the humanitarian crisis in Darfur.

President of the Jordanian Hashemite Charity Organization (JHCO) Abdul Salam Abbadi, who headed the Jordanian delegation to the meeting, made remarks in which he conveyed greetings of Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah to the participants.

Queen, Rania, he said will continue her efforts in cooperation with the United Nations Children’s Fund (UNICEF) to provide care to children in Darfur, Iraq and Palestine.

Highlighting Jordan’s support to Sudan, he said the JHCO started its activities in Darfur since 1985, pointing to the medical aid provided by Jordan to citizens of the region.

The JHCO, Abbadi added, implemented electricity and water projects through an initiative by the Islamic Development Bank, adding the cost of the organization’s projects totaled $8 million.
