PM reiterates gov’t
support for tourism sector
Prime Minister Marouf Bakhit on Wednesday stressed the government’s support for
the tourism sector. At a meeting with Jordan Tourism Board (JTB) representatives
working in 14 countries in Europe, Russia and North America, Bakhit expressed
appreciation for marketing the Kingdom’s tourist attractions. During the
meeting, attended by Tourism Minister Osama Dabbas and JTB Director General
Nayef Fayez, JTB representatives briefed Bakhit on promotional campaigns being
implemented to encourage more tourists to visit the Kingdom. Bakhit underlined
Jordan’s high expectations from this sector and urged the JTB representatives to
intensify their promotion and marketing programmes to boost the country’s image
as a multipurpose tourist attraction. Highlighting the various projects the
country proposes to implement in the next few years, Bakhit pointed out that the
number of hotel rooms will double in 10 years in order to meet the expected
increase in tourists.
