The Jordanian National Committee for Women’s Affairs (JNCW) launched a campaign on Saturday seeking to support women in the polls, entitled: “Jordanian women, from the field to Parliament”. According to JNCW Secretary General Asma Khader, the campaign’s goal is to help Jordanian women reach decision-making positions. The campaign includes training workshops and media campaigns across the Kingdom, in addition to the launch of its website www.women.jo.

The Aqaba Governorate organised a seminar on Saturday designed to stress the importance of women’s participation in the coming elections, according to Aqaba Governor Samir Mubaidin. Several women candidates attended the event.

The “Sharek” campaign, which seeks to encourage young people to participate in the parliamentary polls, started yesterday at the Jerash Sports Club. The campaign is organised by the Ministry of Political Development in cooperation with the Higher Council for Youth and Jordan Youth Forum.

A fire broke out on Saturday at the campaigning centre of a Karak Governorate candidate and completely destroyed chairs, tents and appliances, although no injuries were reported.
