Elections watch
A total of 113 candidates had pulled out from the parliamentary election race by
7:00pm yesterday.
The total number of candidates now stands at 885, including 199 women, according
to Interior Ministry Spokesperson Saad Shihab.
Four candidates - Tayseer Marashdeh, Abdul Salam Saudi, Mohammad Ahmad Shroush
and Mahmoud Naanah - withdrew from the race in Tafileh on Saturday.
Ten candidates pulled out from the race in Karak, reducing the number of
candidates in the governorate to 84. The candidates are Abdul Rahim Sheimat,
Naji Soub, Adnan Atallah Rawashdeh, Adnan Yousef Rawashdeh, Majdolin Rawashdeh,
Kamel Qaralleh, Shahiah Rawashdeh, Ashraf Qaralleh, Shaher Matarneh and Turki
Darabaah.
Candidates Belal Abu Hlaleh, Maher Kreishan and Hesham Rawashdeh withdrew in
Maan.
In the Central Badia region candidates Awad Shraa and Tayel Fayez pulled out
from the race.
Three candidates in Ajloun - Mustafa Qudah, Asaad Gharaibeh and Nabil Qudah
withdrew.
Madaba candidate Mohammad Aref Wakhian, and Abdul Rahman Zubaidi, a candidate
from the Balqa Governorate, also withdrew from the race yesterday.
Director of the Public Security Department Lieutenant General Mohammad Aitan
yesterday announced that the department has completed security preparations to
supervise the elections. He underlined the need to provide all facilities for
voters during the polling process.
A workshop on the importance of the parliamentary election concluded at the
Jerash Sports Club on Saturday with the participation of some 70 young people.
The event included sessions on the role of youth in elections and incorrect
polling practices.
