Planning minister meets with US official
Minister of Planning and International Cooperation Suhair Al-Ali on Tuesday met
with Patrick Garvey, a US Senate Foreign Relations Committee official. Al-Ali
briefed Garvey on recent reforms that have been undertaken in Jordan in the
political, economic and social arenas. She also discussed the Kingdom’s economic
outlook and its current uncertainty due to various challenges. The minister said
these challenges have led to additional pressures in addressing poverty and
unemployment, as well as making fewer financial resources available for capital
investments required to execute various reform agendas and increase standards of
living. The planning minister highlighted the importance of increasing US
assistance to Jordan, in order to help the Kingdom continue with its reform
agenda and alleviate the pressures it faces.
