King heads for Ankara in a
working tour to include Paris and Strasbourg
Amman, Dec. 11 (Petra) His Majesty King Abdullah II left for Ankara on Tuesday
on brief visit to Turkey in the course of a two-day working tour that includes
Paris and Strasbourg.
In Ankara King Abdullah will hold talks with Turkish President Abdullah Gul and
Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan on latest political developments in the
region and ways to further develop bilateral relations in various fields.
The King will also meet top Turkish officials for talks on development of the
peace process in the region following the recent US-sponsored Annapolis
conference on Middle East peace. The talks will cover security and stability in
Iraq.
King Abdullah is expected to arrive in Paris later on the day for talks with
French President Nicolas Sarkozy on bilateral relations and peace making efforts
in the region including France’s role to support Palestinians and Israelis to go
ahead in the peace process.
On Wednesday King Abdullah will deliver a speech before the European Parliament
in Strasbourg, the last leg of the royal tour.
The address is part of King Abdullah’s unceasing efforts to garner international
support for the Palestinian issue to reach just and durable peace and establish
the independent Palestinian state.
The King’s speech includes a future outlook on the Euro-Arab relations and how
peace and stability in the Middle East can further foster these relations.
The King is accompanied by HRH Prince Ali Ben Al Hussein, Royal Court Chief
Bassem Awadallah, Industry and Trade Minister Amer Al Hadidi and Director of the
General Intelligence Department Lt. General Mohammad Al Dahabi.
HRH Prince Faisal Ben Al Hussein was sworn in as Regent.
