Prime Minister Meets Iraqi
Vice-President
Amman, Dec. 11 (Petra) – Prime Minister Nadir Dahabi affirmed that Jordan under
the leadership of His Majesty King Abdullah is keen to restore peace and
security in Iraq as well as safety and unity of its lands.
Dahabi reiterated during a meeting with Iraqi Vice-President Tariq Al Hashemi,
Jordan’s support for the national reconciliation efforts in Iraq and the
importance of the reconciliation to include all Iraqis.
Dahabi added that the Jordanian diplomacy capitalizes on all efforts and
contacts with the international community to support Iraq and find a way out of
its current situations.
The two officials discussed efforts to rebuild Iraq, where they affirmed the
importance of activating bilateral ties and trade as well as benefiting from the
Jordanian expertise and industry.
For his part, Iraqi official expressed thanks and appreciation for Jordan over
its supportive stands to Iraq, mainly supporting efforts to achieve real
national reconciliation in Iraq.
In joint statements to journalists with Minister of State for Media Affairs and
communications and Acting Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh, Al Hashemi said he
discussed with Dahabi the situations of Iraqis in Jordan as well as measures of
facilitating access of Iraqis to Jordan after receiving approvals.
He also expressed relief over the Jordanian stand not to describe Iraqis in
Jordan as refugees.
For his part, Judeh expressed thanks and appreciation over the understanding of
Iraqi government for procedures taken by Jordanian authorities to make it easier
for Iraqis residing in Jordan.
