Bashir meets with
US delegation
Foreign Minister Salah Bashir on Thursday discussed with a visiting US House of
Representatives delegation the Kingdom’s efforts to seize the opportunity to
reach a settlement to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict before the end of 2008.
Bashir told Chairman of the Finance Committee in the US House of Representatives
David Brice and the accompanying delegation that President George Bush’s visit
to the region reflects US commitment to participating in the peace process and
supporting the Palestinians and the Israelis to boost negotiations. He also
stressed Jordan’s keenness to preserve the unity of Iraq and support national
reconciliation efforts based on an inclusive political process that involves all
the Iraqi people. Brice commended the positive role the Kingdom plays in the
region to achieve peace and regional stability, stressing the importance of
further developing bilateral ties in various spheres.
