International
collaboration to address humanitarian questions
AMMAN (JT) -The Jordan Institute of Diplomacy will host 30 senior humanitarian
practitioners for a five-day workshop next week to examine international law and
policy in contemporary war zones. The event, starting on Sunday, is part of a
newly established international partnership between the Jordan Institute of
Diplomacy and the International Association for Humanitarian Policy and Conflict
Research in Brussels. The workshop will explore challenges to international
humanitarian law posed by current conflicts. Through a series of lectures, panel
discussions and policy debates, participants will discuss the protection of
civilians at times of conflict. Attendees will include professionals from
governmental agencies, the UN and international NGOs working in the field of
humanitarian protection.
