JHCO dispatches aid convoy to Gaza Strip
AMMAN (Petra) - The Jordan Hashemite Charity
Organisation (JHCO) on Tuesday dispatched an aid convoy to the Gaza Strip to
help Palestinians overcome shortages in foodstuff and medical supplies.
The aid was presented by the Arab Gulf Programme for United Nations Development
Organisation (AGFUND), which is presided over by Prince Talal Ben Abdul Aziz.
The shipments arrived in Amman recently aboard a Saudi plane as part of a
humanitarian campaign launched by Prince Talal to alleviate the suffering of
Gazans under the economic siege imposed by Israel.
JHCO Secretary General Abdul Salam Abbadi said the aid convoy, the 236th the
organisation dispatches to the Palestinians, is loaded with drugs and medical
equipment that will be handed over to UNRWA officials in Gaza.
The JHCO sent the four-truck aid convoy in cooperation with the Crises
Management Centre at the Jordan Armed Forces and concerned agencies at the
Palestinian National Authority.
