We must win peace
battle, alternative will plunge region into more chaos and violence-King
His Majesty King Abdullah is confident that reaching peace deal between the
parties to the conflict will eventually change pace in the Middle East.
In an interview with US NBR Broadcasting station yesterday, King Abdullah added we should realize success in peace battle because the alternative was sliding the region to abyss, and the future is gloomy. If negotiations were failure this year, we should wait for two or three years till the new US Administration is stabilized, King warned.
The core conflict in the Middle East is the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, King Abdullah reiterated, adding a victory by the enemies of peace, freedom, stability and moderation cannot be an option. If we miss today's opportunities, peace will be set back, perhaps for decades. Extremists will continue to act.
The forces for moderation and positive change will weaken. Global divisions will not only endure but also possibly deepen. Questioning of the West's effectiveness, and commitment, may grow. All of these will have consequences not only for my region but also for the world.
King Abdullah warned against the sensitive and complication issues of final status saying the issues of the final status would not help the Israelis and Palestinians surmount these issues alone. The King called upon the international community to interfere led by the US to enable them to overcome these obstacles.
On Iraqi issue, the facts on the ground showed that pull out is easy, King Abdullah noted, adding some issues should be taken into consideration that is security and stability in Iraq should be maintained.
