Assassination of Chaldean archbishop condemned

The government has condemned the assassination of Chaldean Catholic Archbishop of Mosul Paulus Faraj Rahho, who was abducted two weeks ago. Minister of State for Media Affairs and Communications Nasser Judeh was quoted by the Jordan New Agency, Petra, as saying the government strongly denounces the crime which targeted a peaceful clergyman. Judeh said the government also denounces targeting innocent civilians and offered its condolences to the Chaldeans and Rahho’s family. The minister said he hoped Rahho’s assassination would not affect the reconciliation process in Iraq. Meanwhile, HRH Prince Hassan, chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Royal Institute for Inter-Faith Studies, also condemned the Rahho’s assassination, describing it as a heinous crime and an affront to humanity and the divine values and principles to which all believers adhere. “I express my sincere condolences to all those who were stricken by this tragedy, and I assure them that this terrible crime will not deter the noble efforts of those who seek to strengthen the voice of reason against the evil forces whose aim it is to destroy Iraq and the foundations of brotherhood and solidarity on which it is based,” Prince Hassan said.
